The new size 5 sterilizable motor from Maxon can be used with or without planetary gearheads in high speed medical applications of up to 90,000 rpm. The motor is characterized by high nominal speed, extremely low-noise and low-vibration operation, marginal thermal emission and small size.
The motor and gearhead possess an outside diameter of Ø 0.500 inch and a shaft diameter of Ø 0.125 inch. An ideal product for medical design applications, Maxon’s size 5 motor features a compact design with very high nominal speed, quiet running, minimized thermal emission and sterilizability of typically 500 autoclave cycles. The size 5 motor is available with Hall sensors or as a sensorless version, with three different motor windings available.
